Peter Morris
Peter Morris is an Australian crime novelist whose work explores guilt, trauma, redemption and the uneasy boundary between justice and revenge.
His debut novel, The Long Grass, is set in Weipa in 1985 and follows a Brisbane investigative team sent north after three men are found murdered near Stubby Beach. The story combines a police investigation with a deeper examination of the lives of the victims, the killer and the people drawn into the case.
Peter’s writing is shaped by extensive research into Queensland policing, Far North Queensland history and the social attitudes of the mid-1980s. He is particularly interested in character-driven crime fiction that leads readers in one direction before revealing that the truth lies somewhere else entirely.
He lives in Brisbane and often develops characters and story ideas while walking with his dog, Maisy.
